OU Course materials

The Library and Learning Resources Centre holds a comprehensive collection of Open University course materials on a variety of formats:

  • Printed course materials both current and archive 
  • Audio visual material including video/TV programmes, DVDs, audio CDs and cassettes, vinyl recordings and slides
  • Computer software DVD-ROMs and CD-ROMs
  • Transcripts of TV and audio material
  • Archive audio visual material dating back to 1971

You can search for all Open University course materials in the library catalogue. Use the Limit To drop down list to choose the format.

Open University course materials are also available to use at Open University regional offices.

Dramatisations of Open University course set books and plays are available for loan on DVD and audio formats.

Accessing Open University course materials

Open University staff and students may borrow course materials where loan copies are available. External students may also borrow some materials.

Visit the OpenLearn website which gives free online access to some OU course materials. 

Please note course materials are no longer being maintained in public libraries and that new materials are not available in Regional Centres or the Library before the course starts. 

Reference material may be used in the Library. Facilities for viewing and listening to audio visual material and for using computer software are available.

Accessing exam papers

Downloadable or printed exam papers can be purchased from the Open University Students Association (OUSA).  Please contact OUSA with any queries.
