The Open University Archive

The Open University Archive holds a variety of original archival material, managed by the University Archivist. The collections include materials relating to the history of the University, and special collections relevant to many fields of research, in particular: Modern Political history, Distance Education, Women’s history, History of Management, History of Mathematics and Systems behaviour.

The Library and Learning Resources Centre also holds a complete archive of all Open University Course Materials.

Information for users

The Archive is open to all by appointment with the Archivist.

Upon arrival, users of The Archive:

  • will be required to complete an access/copyright form
  • will be required to read the Archive Handling Guidelines

Copying of archival material for research purposes may be allowed with the permission of the Archivist.
